Reaching Brands

Contacting brands is actually easier than one would think. Especially through social media such as twitter, Facebook, or instagram. Although my request for free stuff was denied two companies replied to my tweets, lays and vitamin shoppe. Vitamin Shoppe stated that they could not give me a discount for being a college student however they said there store provided discounts weekly and I should check the weekly discounts out. I asked lays for a bag of potato chips they didn't give me one but they said that if i went to the local convenient store I would be able to find one. My approach to this assignment was to make the brands feel bad for me. I started with Im a college student and this infers that Im under a lot of stress and debt. My goal was to get the companies to feel bad and send a care package which would be the best scenario or a coupon through twitter. I honestly didn't think the companies would reply. Going into to this assignment i thought it would be impossible for one to engage or interact with a company but I found that its not the company as a whole operating their social media account but instead one individual or a team and its much easier to contact a individual than a whole company. I didn't get any of the brands to follow me back. I think the reason behind this is to establish there credibility because having a good ratio between followers and who you follow is key. If you have less followed than followers than this means that people follow you based on your content and what your selling and you didn't get the followers by just spamming the follow button. what I learned from this assignment that it is easier to engage with a brand but extremely hard for a brand to follow you back.
