Every sentence, essay or book could be the same, obviously they aren't because they are all presented differently or in a different Genre. With genre one is not limited to one way of presenting their thoughts on paper but are given multiple different ways to express themselves. They don't even have to write a book, they can present their thoughts through song or even a painting. There are three elements of genre. Style or ones unique techniques used to present their thoughts and we compare their style to those in the same genre. Design or the way the writer presents his thoughts. Design is aesthetic but also very functional. It helps the writer organize his thoughts with headers or format. Sources are the spark that starts the fire. We need sources because they contribute to the final outcome.

My last genre was a Mockumentary. In ENC1101 we had to present our research paper in a different genre. The topic of my research paper was steroids and I questioned if the media was correct when discussing steroids. The sad thing is people who take steroids have a problem. With the growth of bodybuilding there has been more reported cases of bigorexia each year. People who take steroids aren't doing it for others but for themselves which is a big misconception. My Mockumentary represented the stereotypical steroid user and after my mockumentary I changed my genre to a more serious speech. I aimed to inform my classmates that the person in that video was the 1% and that steroid users have a serious problem. The switch of genre is what got me an A!
